The payment of transfer and appointment expenses to temporary employees performing officer type work or new officers on appointment is assessed on a case by case basis and subject to approval prior to initial appointment.

Refund of Costs
Payment of appointment expenses shall be on the condition that should the officer tender their resignation from, or otherwise cease duty in the Queensland Public Service (except by reason of retirement, retrenchment, contract termination by the Crown other than by disciplinary action, death or medical unfitness) within 3 years of taking up duty, the officer is required to refund to the Queensland Government costs involved in taking up duty to the following extent:

If you have a dependent spouse, dependent de facto or dependent child you will be entitled to the full rate locality allowance.

Definition of Dependants - A person in receipt of remuneration less than the Queensland Minimum Wage could be regarded as a dependant.

Employees are entitled to the half rate locality allowance where a spouse or defacto spouse is also an officer or is employed by a statutory corporation, board, authority or any other body and is eligible to receive a locality allowance.

Refer to Ministerial Directive for locality allowances available at http://www.psier.qld.gov.au.
